Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:24

God made both man and woman in His image. From the beginning the Bible places both man and woman at the Pinnacle of God’s creation and God gave Adam responsibility for the garden according to Genesis 2:15. Not only did God command us to work, but, being created in His image as a Creator, we are hardwired with a desire to create—to work. This doesn’t mean that we’re able to create something out of nothing like God. Instead, we can create things out of something already created. God knew each one of us long before we were born or even conceived as it is written in Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” And Exodus 23:25 says “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him (Psalm 115:3).

In Deuteronomy 10:12-13 says “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, {13} “and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?” There are two great privileges that God has given to man. The first is salvation, which is the privilege to enter into an intimate and eternal relationship with God, to be unified with Him in love. The second greatest privilege is to serve God with good works, which He performs through us as we allow Him to do so. Both of these privileges are a result of God’s grace. Ephesians 2:8-10, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, (Romans 8:28).

What is God’s calling for your life? For many people of faith, that question is alternately a source of mystery, frustration, confusion, and hope. Does God have a fine-tuned plan for each of us, or is God’s call more general, with the details left up to us? As believers, 1 Corinthians 7:17 says “Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.” God, the creator of the universe, has called us to be part of His work to bring justice and kindness to His creation. What a joy and privilege! But the work ahead can be challenging, too, and we’re grateful that God is with us. Whatever works God has called you to do, “May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen” as it is written in Hebrews 13:21. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” as it is written in Matthew 5:16. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW! STAY HEALTHY! STAY SAFE! STAY POSITIVE! STAY CONNECTED TO THE WORD! STAY FOCUSED! STAY FIRM! STAY IN FAITH! STAY BLESSED!
