Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:23

As human beings, we are sinful by nature. Sin is an evil human act, which violates the rational nature of man as well as God’s nature and his eternal law. When the root of sin has been taken away from the heart, it becomes easy for the believer to love God supremely above every other things, and live a life set apart in obedience to His words. The Bible tells us in John 17:17, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” Sanctification is the Holy Spirit’s work of making us holy. When the Holy Spirit creates faith in us, He renews in us the image of God so that through His power we produce good works. These good works are not meritorious but show the faith in our hearts (Ephesians 2:8-10). And in Leviticus 20:7 says for us to “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.” We must live a holy life because our God is holy (Levitcus 19:1-2). When God says He is Holy, He wants us to be different from the world. Sanctification is also our task and not only God’s task. It is also holiness or to be set apart. Holiness is paramount in our Christian life, and holiness is our key to happiness.

Holiness of heart is beautiful, it gives us the rest Jesus Christ promised, even in the midst of the troubles of life (Matthew 11:28-29), so that we can live our life in contentment and without struggle, because Jesus promises is love healing, and peace with God. Holiness of heart will inspire our desire to live perfect and grow in it. Jesus Christ says, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). The Holy Spirit plays a key role in this process; as we walk in the power of the Spirit we โ€œwill not gratify the desires of the fleshโ€ (Galatians 5:16). Through sanctification, as believers, we become humble, teachable, and submissive to God, and to constituted authorities. Our conscience is more enlightened to recognize sin in all its subtlety so you can avoid it. Genesis 5:24 says “Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.” To walk with God is to decide that God will hold our hand at all times. Even when in times of trouble we believe that God is there. In the Book of 1 Peter4:16, Peter tells us that if we suffer because we are  Christians, not to be ashamed of it but instead to thank God that we bear Christ’s name. It is God’s desire to help us live perfect before Him and that is why He made provision for our heart’s purification, or sanctification.

God wants us to be different and to be different means to be a nonconformist and to be a nonconformist is to be a believer and be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Wholeness is another way of looking at holiness. God has given us tools to grow when asking what is sanctification. When we walk with God through sanctification, thereโ€™s a well of divine grace flowing from within us, and this will cause us to attract the favour of man and God everywhere we go (John7:38). And that person will be complete, matured, well-rounded. The first step to holiness is to repent of our sins and that’s “Repentance.” Holiness is practical and we need a heart felt worship to God without hesitating. Are we walking with God in holiness? A relationship and walk with God through sanctification changes meaningless wearisome toil into spiritual productive and purpose. Let us walk with God through sanctification and enjoy God’s blessings. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW! STAY HEALTHY! STAY SAFE! STAY POSITIVE! STAY FOCUSED! STAY STRONG! STAY IN FAITH! STAY CONNECTED! STAY FIRM! STAY BLESSED!
