Memory Verse: Proverbs 16:3

The Bible is the Word of God. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 says “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” It sets a pattern that helps us relate the Word of God to our daily lives. We are to love God, think constantly about His commandments, and live each day by the guidelines in His Word. God emphasized the importance of His Word. Matthew 6:33 says “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” The Bible makes it abundantly clear in Matthew 13:44-46, that the Kingdom of Heaven is more valuable than anything else we can have, and a person must be willing to give up everything to obtain it. God is the greatest, most valuable, most precious thing in the universe.

We all have priorities, and do arrange our goals, agendas schedules, budgets, and relationships according to perceived importance. Putting God first means we give Him top priority over everything else. He is the principal figure in our lives and central to all we do and think. When we choose to put God first, we determine that He is more important than any other person, or thing. God’s Word is more valuable than any other message, and His Will is weightier than any other imperative. What does it really mean to put God first in our present world? Putting God first means that we keep the greatest commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). Jesus said that if we truly love God, we will naturally keep His commandments. In other words, we are to be fully devoted to God.

As believers, putting God first means God wants us to offer ourselves as living sacrifices โ€”daily laying aside our own desires to follow Him, putting all our energy and resources at His disposal and trusting Him to guide us; Putting God first means that we strive to have Christ-like attributes and to submit to God’s Will (1 Peter 2:21; John 5:19); Putting God first means to make the Kingdom of God our primary concern, to fill our thoughts with His desires, to take His character for our pattern, and to serve and obey His in everything. What is really important to you? People, objects, goals, and other desires all compete for priority. Any of these can quickly bump God out of first place if we don’t actively choose to give God first place in every area of our life. Planning for tomorrow is time well spent; worrying about tomorrow is time wasted. Worriers, by contrast, are consumed by fear and we find it difficult to trust God. We must not let worries about tomorrow affect our relationship with God. When we don’t put God first, we can not go to Him when things are not working in our lives. Jesus tells us to persist in pursuing God. Let us strive by putting God first and everything else will fall in place. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW! STAY HEALTHY! STAY SAFE! STAY FIRM! STAY POSITIVE! STAY IN FAITH! STAY STRONG! STAY CONNECTED! STAY BLESSED!
