📖: Daniel 4:1-37

Confession: 1 Peter 5:5-6

Pride is one of the few things that can grow in the human heart. We all struggle with pride, one way or the other and many of us do not realize they are prideful. It’s a moral issue and even people in the church are not exempted. Unknowingly, to some of us, pride is a major problem confronting our lives, which can create a stumbling blocks even amongst nations. It is the source of many sins and we need to address it before it destroys our lives.

Pride is inordinate self-esteem; an opinion of one’s superiority in accomplishments, wealth; a sense of personal worth (Proverbs 27:2).
The world doesn’t recognize pride as sinful but

bGod hates the sin of pride (Isaiah 2:12) and Jeremiah 9:23 says “This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches”. Pride is hidden in our heart and it is easier to see pride in others than to recognize it in ourselves. It can manifest itself in selfish motives, over confidence in oneself (ego) and has kept many unbelievers from accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.

Pride is one of Satan’s tools used in tempting us into sinning against God. Nebuchadnezzar was prideful and God made him to dwell will the beasts of the field a he ate grass as oxen (Daniel 4:30-34). It can lead us to treating others unfairly, making us to have low opinion of others, self exaltation, stubbornness “stiff necked” as Moses described the Israelites. The opposite of pride is humility. As children of God we must humble ourselves before God and He will lift us up in honour (James 4:10).

Pride is a big threat to our Christian life and it changes our mindset and lifestyle to things of the world. As written in Proverbs 29:23 which says “Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor”. Christians, we must remember that our salvation is by His grace alone and not by our merit (Ephesians 2:8-9), therefore we must guard against spiritual pride (John 9:28-34). May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us, in Jesus’ name, Amen. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW!

PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!

🙏 Holy Spirit, I need a change by fire, in the name of Jesus.

🙏 Every spiritual ignorance, walking with me into the pit, be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.

🙏 O Lord, uproot every seed of pride growing in me, in the name of Jesus.

🙏 Every spirit of pride in my life, be destroyed, in Jesus’ name.

🙏 Thank You Lord, for answered prayers.
