📖: James 1:1-26
Confession: Psalm 91
When we first became Christians, we were on fire for God and the works of God. We always looked forward to worshiping the Lord. Unfortunately for some of us that’s not the case because our busy lifestyle, couple with what is going on around us in our present world, some of us are loosing focus of our main purpose in life. We focus more on ourselves, our adversaries, and things of this world. Colossians 3:2 says “set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth”.
To focus is the central point of something; to direct our attention or activity to something.
The book of James is a reminder on how and why we need to stay focused. We all are faced with one struggle or the other and we allow it to weigh us down. Nobody likes pain, but we must realize that trials and tribulations are the causes of our pain, and most of the time we want the pain to go away immediately. We try to lean on our understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) not trusting God enough to take care of the situation for us. We need to trust in God that He is ever present with us in our times of trials and all we have to do, is to endure, persevere, and have faith in God because at the end, it is only God that can save us, (James 1:5-8).
As Christians, we must look forward and not look back to our old ways because we are now new creation. According to the book of 1 Corinthians 13:11 says “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me”. We must therefore be focused in seeking first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), and
commit to the Lord whatever we do, and He will establish our plans (Proverbs 16:3). We must not be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6-7), rather we must come near to God and He will come near us (James 4:8).
Philippians 4:8-9 sums it all up for us to stay focused on God by putting into practice all the commandments and Word of God, and the God of peace will be with us. Let us strive to improve our prayer life, by reading the Bible, increasing our faith in God, trusting Him and surrendering all to God. It’s a choice that we need to make; therefore let us make the decision today and focus all our needs on Jesus. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW! Have a relationship with God.
PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Stay blessed! Shalom!!!
