📖: Matthew 25: 1-12
Confession: Psalm 91
Procrastination is something that many of us struggle with in one or more areas of our lives and it is universal.
Procrastination is putting off, or delaying something requiring immediate attention because it is unpleasant, boring, or being lazy.
Procrastination is an old habits that tend not to die quickly. It is one of Satan’s weapons that is used in making us put off things that needs to be done today rather than tomorrow. Tomorrow is what nobody knows because we do not know what it will bring, according the book of Proverbs 27:1 which say “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring”.
Procrastination is a hindrance to redeeming the time, and how we use our time is of concern to God (Ephesians 5:16-17). Time is something when lost cannot be gotten back. It becomes a sin when we know what to do and don’t do it (James 4:17). Satan knows the essence of time and knows that there’s time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-9). Also according to the scripture in Genesis 19:16 procrastination can be dangerous when we delay or keep putting off our salvation.
Sometimes people hearing the gospel delay in their salvation as it is written in the book of Acts 24:25 which says “As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you”. If we are not disciplined procrastination can be a hindrance in our Christian journey. Doors can be closed against us as written in Matthew 25:12 which says “And the door was shut”.
When procrastination is not addressed, it can also increase worries, anxiety, stress, or even steal our joy. Hence we need to identify the cause of procrastination before it destroys our lives. Some causes of procrastination; INDECISION- is the root of procrastination. It makes us to be double minded (James 1:8), PERFECTIONISM- waiting for things to be perfect (Ecclesiastes 11:4), FEAR OF FAILURE- regarding any new thing we want to do, even sharing our faith (Proverbs 29:25), LAZINESS- it affects our productivity and rob us of our fruithfulnes (Proverbs 18:9). To break the circle of procrastination, we need to be prayerful and fix our eyes on Jesus Christ. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW!
PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
🙏 O Lord, break the circle of procrastination, non achievement, putting off and being lazy towards my salvation, and future in the name of Jesus.
