📖: Philippians 2:1-11
Confession: Psalm 91
The opposite of humility is pride and as Christians, the Bible says God is opposed to the proud.
To be humble, we need to understand the meaning of Humility to enable us change our character. Humility is the quality or act of being humble. Freedom from pride and arrogance; humbleness of mind; a modest estimate of one’s worth.
The Bible describes humility as meekness, lowliness and absence of self. (Colossians 3:12).
Pride is a universal human problem, whether rich or poor, male or female, educated or uneducated, believer or unbeliever, regardless of the color of our skin we must realize that pride being sinful is our greatest enemy, and humility being meekness is our greatest friend. Humility is God’s gift and a cure for pride. We also need humility if we are to enter the Kingdom of God (John. 13:1-16). Humility is not passiveness. There is a difference between being humble and being passive. It is not being cowardly. Humility is being encouraged even if it is going to put us down (Acts 4:13-15).
Humility is the fear of the Lord; it wages are riches and honor and life (Proverbs 22:4), and gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5). Those who are truthful and honest serving Him, He guides them in what is right, and teaches them His way (Psalm 25:9). Humility is the beauty of holiness. God is the giver and sustainer of everything, and seeing ourselves as sinful and needy in His presence, we must therefore do to others as we would have them do to us (Luke 6:31-35).
To be humble, we must not look down on others, not being judgmental, and must have respect for each other. Jesus Christ humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cros (Philippians 2:8). We must put God first, others second, and self last. We must strive to face circumstances of life by so doing, we will be free from pride and arrogance; which is sinful. We must allow the Holy Spirit to teach us humility, and at the end of it all, have gratitude in your heart (Matthew 25). Stay connected and let us fix our eyes on Jesus’s humility (Matthew 20:28). For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW!
PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
