PRAYING FOR OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN (1)

πŸ“–: Psalm 127:3-5

Confession: Psalm 91

The Bible says in Psalm 127:3 that “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him”. He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children (Psalm 113:9). Children and grandchildren are one of the greatest source of joy for parents.

As parents, during their infancy our children depends on us for everything and we strive in giving and doing the best things for them, nurturing, loving, protecting, encouraging, correcting, supporting, providing opportunities for them to do what they are passionate about in life, and so much more.

As parents and grand parents, we need to lay a godly foundation for our children and grandchildren as it is written in Proverbs 22:6 which says “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it”. We live in perilous times. Satan is very cunning, deceitful, ruthless, and will stop at nothing in targeting our children with its schemes, plans and devices in manipulating them his way. In addition, the peer pressure, problems of crimes, kidnapping, and social media influences makes it paramount for parents to impress on our children the word of God (Deuteronomy 6:7).

As believers, we need to train our children early in life, in the way of the Lord, in order for them to look to the Lord for everything, even before they look to us. This will encourage and enable them to surrender all and have confidence in God’s Words and promises. Mark 10:13-16 says “People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. [14] When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, β€œLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. [15] Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” [16] And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
