📖: 1 Corinthians 13:4-13; 1 John 3:1-4; 4:9-21
Confession: Psalm 91
God is the greatest love and He dwells inside us. His love is unconditional and He demonstrated His love for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8), “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). He choose to love us, even when we did not deserve or earn His love to be called children of God. God’s love is shown through Jesus Christ.
Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. It is a variety of different feelings and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection.
Biblical meaning of love as it is written in the book of 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 says “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. To sum it up “GOD IS LOVE”.
David was a man who loved God from the bottom of his heart to the depth of his soul. He was zealous for God and was a man after God’s heart. David experienced God’s love and knew he did not deserve, nor merited the love that God bestowed upon him. He never took God’s love for granted. David’s character is worth emulating in regards to the way we think about God’s love for us.
Most human love is conditional, and it is based on response of the receiver. We love our friends and tend not to love others who do not show love towards us. As Christians, God’s love is within us, and have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:2-5). We must respond to His love through thanksgiving as written in Psalm 136:26 which says “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever”.
When faced with any trials, feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, we must never doubt His love for us because He will never leave us nor forsake us (John 1:5), but must trust in the Him with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). He will always love us no matter what. He has poured out His love into our hearts and want us to love one another through the good and the bad. As Christians, let us focus on His love that is in us and allow that same love to flow through us to everyone that we meet. Love conquers everything. God is love and there is no power greater than love. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW! Have a relationship with God.
