GOD’S DWELLING PLACE

📖: Ezekiel 37:26-27; Acts 2:22

Confession: Psalm 91

God created the heaven and the earth and His

main dwelling is in the Heaven (Psalm 113:5-6; Acts 7:49) and also the dwelling place of God is within man (Revelation 21:3). God is not restricted to dwelling in any place. God is a Spirit, and He is invisible. God is Omnipresent, (He is everywhere). God created man and His desire is to always commune and have fellowship with us, but Adam and Eve due to sin, broke that bond of Fellowshiping.

In the Old Testament, we read how God dwelled in a physical physical temple, the tabernacle, and amongst the people (Exodus 29:45). The tabernacle is a reflection of the character of God. The tabernacle was designed by God through Moses and was built by the people. He was the architect. According to the book of 1 Samuel 5:1, the Philistines captured the ark of God and it was returned to Jerusalem in the early reign of King David (2 Samuel 6:1-15). David had in his mind to build a dwelling place for the ark (1 Chronicles 17:1-2), but was not permitted by God to build a dwelling place for Him because of too much blood shed in his hand. God made a covenant with David that his seed will build a dwelling place for Him (1 Chronicles 17:4-25). David prepared and made available all the materials needed in building of the temple and gave  Solomon, his son the pattern of the temple  (1 Chronicles 28) and Solomon built the temple for God.

In the New Testament, it’s all about Jesus coming to the earth and dwell amongst us. According to the book of John 1:14, introduced Jesus as the Son of God and God dwells in Him and He dwelled amongst men. The is a spiritual dwelling place of God. To confirm this, Jesus made Himself known to the woman at the well (John 4:20-26). The New Testament teaches us that the dwelling place of God is within the church and not the building. Jesus told His disciples before He was betrayed that He will not leave them as orphans but promised them that the Father will send another Comforter, who will be with them forever (John 14:16-18). We Christians are the church and are the chosen race, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:4-5). The moment we become born again Christians (1 John 4:15) God dwells in us. Therefore as true Christians, we must understand that we don’t own our body. Our body is the temple of God, and His dwelling place that must be kept holy (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty and He is our habitation (Psalm 91:1; 9). Our desire in life must be to dwell where God dwells (Psalm 27:4-5). Let us therefore fix our eyes on Jesus who dwells in us through the Holy Spirit.

For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW!

PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Let us strive and stay connected and God will “Revive Thy Work, O God” Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
