📖: Romans 14:1-23
Confession: Psalm 91
As Christians, our everyday life is like running a marathon race and each day presents something new. It entails a lot of self-discipline, patience, and hard work in order for us to finish well and win the prize, (1 Corinthians 9:24).
A stumbling block is a behaviour, attitude, or action of a person that leads another to sin.
We are surrounded by obstacles, entrapments, errors, and sins that makes our Christian race a marathon, thereby making it delicate to run. As believers, we do not want to be a stumbling block to anyone, or to ourselves, and neither do we want anyone to be a stumbling block in our lives.
Every now and then we all stumble and it takes the grace of God to deliver us from the temptations that leads us to sin; such as lust of the flesh, or pride. All these bring about stumbling blocks and leads us to sinning against God. Sometimes we unknowingly become stumbling blocks to others (Romans 14:13-15). As a believer, we have to examine ourselves in areas that can be a stumbling block to others such as: our mode of dressing, it must be respectable apparel; husband and wife should give each other their conjugal right to avoid being tempted by Satan (1 Corinthians 7:1-8); the manner in which we counsel one another (Malachi 2:8; 1 Corinthians 8:9). Most importantly parents-children relationship, we must not be a stumbling block to them as regards to our parenting.
In Matthew 16:23, Peter was a stumbling block when he told Jesus not to go to Jerusalem and suffer in the hands the elders, chief priest, and teachers of law. Jesus told Peter “Get behind me, Satan” (Matthew 16:23).
1 John 2:15 says “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them”. Therefore, we must realize that things of our world will come our way and are bound to cause us to stumble, (Luke 17:1-2) so we must refrain from them and set our minds on things above not on the things that are on earth (Colossians 3:2).
2 Corinthians 3:2 says “ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men”, being obedient to God’s commandments (1 John 5:3) helps and guide us from having or creating any stumbling block against ourselves or any one else. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW! Have a relationship with God; Hear God’s Word; Read His Word; Meditate on it; Memorize it; Stand on it; Pray His Word; Confess it, and may the power in God’s Word change our lives for the better, to receive our covenant and heavenly promises, to the glory of God, in the name of Jesus.
PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
