📖: Deuteronomy 11:26-29

Confession: Psalm 91

A Curse is the expression of a wish that misfortune, evil, doom etc., befall a person, group, or a formula or charm intended to cause such misfortune to another (Dictionary).

A blessing is the the reverse of a curse. It’s a favour or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness.
Sometimes we are faced with situations and circumstances that had previously affected our parents, and it’s now threatening our well being. This kind of strongholds can be referred to as generational curses. A curse can be placed upon a person by God as in the case of Cain; when he killed Abel, his brother (Genesis 4:1-12), also God can place a curse on a generation even to the fourth generation (Exodus 20:5). A curse can be placed on anything; Joshua cursed Jericho (Joshua 6:26); parents sometimes curse their children; Jacob cursed Reuben (Genesis 49:3-4). Wicked people can place a curse on someone; curse of words that are intended to inflict harm, to wish one evil or to damage one’s life. We can also unintentionally place a curse on ourselves through negative words or negative jokes that we say to each other. Other curses can be inherited, a generational curse (Numbers 14:18).

The enemy is always afraid of the divine seed in one’s life and wants to destroy our dream like Joseph’s story; from prison to the palace. All we know is that we have a problem or situation that is extremely difficult to change. Sometimes we can be a victim of a curse and not even realize it. Other times, we are overwhelmed with struggle due to fleshy lust and desires. Some of us have lost the fire to fight, because we’ve been fighting the same battle over and over again. As believers, we need to be free and be redeemed from any curse (Galatians 3:13-14). For us to be free we must submit ourselves to God. Resist the devil and must not allow any curse to control our lives. When we cry to God, He will intervene and turn a hopeless and unchangeable situation into a blessing. He can overrule any curse for our good (Deuteronomy 23:5; Genesis 50:20). Sometimes God may not intervene and allow us to go through trial, and in the process He wants us to rely on Him because at the end of it all everything will work together for our good (Romans 8:28).

There are many curses, but there is only one cure and that cure is blessing and only God has the power to reverse it. When we trust and have faith in God, He will reverse the curse into blessing. For us to benefit, we must be born again, prayers, meditation on God’s Word and with the help of the Holy Spirit, the curse will be turned to blessing. Revelation 22:3 says “No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him”. Jesus’ death on the cross gives us the freedom from any curse. Starting from today, let us endeavour to reject words that don’t line up with God’s Word for our lives. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW!

PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
