📖: Ecclesiastes 3:1-14
Confession: Psalm 91
In the Old Testament, in Genesis 3:16 God said to Adam and Eve “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” According to the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-14, human beings regardless of our beliefs, all go through sorrow in our lives.
Being a Christian does not exempt us from experiencing sorrow. Some people believe that since they are born again they will not experience any form of sorrow. Their feelings are that God will protect them from experiencing sorrow and when these situation arise, they feel that God has forsaken them; making it hard to overcome the issues that brought sorrow into their lives.
There are many factors that cause sorrow. Sorrow can be caused by the death of loved ones, job loss, marriage problems, poor health, disappointment from loved ones. My experience of sorrow was when I fell and injured my neck and spine. I felt my life was over and mindset happens to some of us and we feel our lives have been turned upside down.
Jesus understands our feelings because when He lived in human form on earth, He experienced sorrow and knows how we feel. He is telling us that when we are faced with sorrow, He knows it sometimes leaves us struggling. He doesn’t want our heart to be troubled, but believe in God and also in Him-Jesus Christ (John 14:1). Sometimes sorrow brings trials that we cannot fix, we can become anxious. The Word of God in 1 Peter 5:7 says we must cast all our care upon Him, for He cares for us. We must be strong, courageous, not frightened nor dismayed for God is with us wherever we go (Joshua 1:9).
A perfect example is in the book of John 11:4-45. We are told of how God sometimes permits sorrow to manifest in our lives for us to see His glory. Also when faced with sorrow, we surrender all to Jesus and pour out our heart to Him and “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” He is the only Source that will take away our sorrow. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW!
PRAY THIS; in the name of Jesus, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and I will make You my Lord and Saviour. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
🙏 O God, arise and let Your mighty hand be upon my life, upholding and protect me from any form of sorrow, in the name of Jesus.
