OBEDIENCE! DISOBEDIENCE! CONSEQUENCES! (1)

📖: 1 Kings 13:1-34

“And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:  For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord , saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest” (1 Kings 13:8-9).

OBEDIENCE: God expects obedience from us (Deuteronomy 11:26-28).

The man of God obeyed God by going to Judah, to Jeroboam to signify to him God’s displeasure against his idolatry and  leading God’s people astray (1 Kings 13:1-10). We must learn to obey God.
DISOBEDIENCE: “The Fall of Man”, Adam and Eve disobeyed God and brought sin to mankind (Genesis 3).

The deception of the old prophet made the man of God to disobey God’s command when he followed the old prophet to his house to eat and drink water. (1 Kings 13:15-22). We must learn not to disobey God because God’s Word is final.
CONSEQUENCES: The consequences leads to sin (1 Samuel 15:22-23).
Unfortunately for the man of God, he did not obey God’s command to the latter and it lead to his death (1 Kings 13:24-29). Outcome of disobedience can lead to tragedy.

Every day we are faced with decision making and sometimes make unwise choices that have consequences in them and leads to situations we never saw coming. Some of our choices can be limited based on the circumstances because of the law of man. However, the choice or decisions we make can either make us or break us, so is the choice of words that we use in communicating to others. Proverbs 18:21 says “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit”.
Psalm 111:10 says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise”. Every decision we make in life affects us directly or indirectly. The choice we make can either be a positive choice that brings satisfaction or a negative choice that brings disappointment. The choice is ours. Daniel 1:8,20 says

“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way”.  [20] In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW!
