📖: John 14:1-11
A way is a path or course leading from one place to another; a road, route, passage, or channel, doorway.
There are many scriptures in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation that make mention of the word Way. In the book of Isaiah which is a mini bible in the Bible refers to the prophecy of Isaiah from chapter 6 to the end as the gospel of Messiah and Prophet Isaiah is refered to as the evangelist of the Old Testament. Just to mention few scriptures in the Old Testament about “The Way”; Isaiah 35:8 says “And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.”; Psalm 32:8 says “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go: I will counsel you with my loving eye on you”; Exodus 18:20 says “Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave”.
In the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter the presence of God, taking place every year. It was impossible for the people to come to the presence of God, they were only allowed a designated are, a courtyard. In the courtyard was where sacrifices to God were offered. In the Old Testament the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest (Hebrews 9:8). In the New Testament, according to the book of John, chapter 14:6 says “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. “I AM” is The eternal being of God, He is the “I AM”. Jesus is the Great “I AM”, the eternal God in human flesh.
Jesus said “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). Jesus is God in the flesh and portrays Himself as the “WAY” to His disciples which means He is the only Way we have to the presence of God, the Father and to Heaven. He has come so that through His life and death we can have redemption, forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace. Jesus’ Blood atones for our sins compared to the high priest who could only enter into the holy place every year with blood of others; (Hebrews 9:25). Jesus alone has access to the presence of God (Ephesians 1:7), hence we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (Hebrews 10:10). Let us therefore, strive and live a holy life to ensure that we have access to the presence of God through Jesus Christ who is the ONLY “Way, the truth, and life”. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed week.
