📖: Deuteronomy 11:8-31
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). To worship God in “Spirit and Truth shows we must “Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always” (Deuteronomy 11:1).
The world that we live in, demands from us to obey the law of the Land. What about the commandments of God, the Highest authority? Are we obeying His command? Obedience to God demonstrates our love and faithfulness for Him (1 John 5:2-3). Obedience to God’s command is the true sign of our love for Him and the only way is knowing and meditating on His Word (Deuteronomy 11:1). To obey means to comply, submit, or to conform to a command or authority. Obedience is involuntary; God Himself is the One and Only True authority. When we obey God, we will live life that is full of joy, peace, happiness, and blessings.
Obedience is an essential part of our Christian faith (Philippians 2:8) and it is paramount that we obey God. The Bible says our choices and actions have a role to play in blessings we receive from God (Deuteronomy 28). As human beings, we obey the law of the land and our parents, more than obeying the commandments of God thereby losing out on our blessings because of disobedience (Joshua 5:6). However, if we do not obey God’s commands and decrees, the Bible says His curses will be upon those who disobey Him. There is a proverb that says “obedience is better than sacrifice”.
Isaiah 1:19 says “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land”; meaning there is reward for those who obey the commandments of God and walk in His way (Psalm 1:1-2). Obedience comes from the heart and it is through knowing the Word of God that changes our character. Sometimes, as human beings due to pressure, demands, and expectations, it can be hard to follow God’s commands.
George MacDonald is quoted as saying “I find that doing of the will of God leaves me no time for disputing about His plans”.
The Word of God is put before us today to choose life and death, or blessings and curses. The choice we make is up to us. Let us strive to choose life and blessings. By obeying the commandments of God, we will see the manifestation of His blessings upon our lives and family (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).Those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW. Stay connected! Have a blessed weekend. Shalom!!!
