📖: Luke 15:12-32
Confession: Psalm 136
Our God, is a God of second chances. He is God of mercy and grace; He is full of compassion, (Psalm 86:15). God our Creator created us in His wisdom. He knows who we are and does not expect us to be sinless (Psalm 103:14). He makes a way for us to learn from our mistakes and when we go to Him with a repentant heart and ask for forgiveness, He forgives us and helps us to move forward in life.
The Bible tells us of people who made mistakes and who were disobedient, but received second chances from God. David the “man after God’s own heart”; Jonah, Moses, Samson, Peter the “Rock” they all got second chances from God and became a better person.
Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. Some of us hit rock bottom before realizing our mistakes and errors in life. It’s very terrible that the world we live in creates a system that doesn’t give second chances to first minor offenders in the society. It’s a relief that we worship the God of second chances because He knows that a just man falls seven times and rises up again (Proverbs 24:16).
Sometimes, our ourney in life is like the story of the prodigal son, who was impatient with his father and collected his own portion/inheritance and wasted it all. The consequences of his action became unbearable; a living hell for him, he then made a choice to return back home. His father had compassion, forgave and welcomed him back home. Likewise, when we disobey God and go to Him, with a repentant heart and ask for forgiveness; He forgives and give us a second chance (Luke 15:12-24).
As Christians, in anything in life; we must realize that sometimes, wrong choices, disobedience, and mistakes come with serious consequences that can either derail, stagnate, or even make us miss our destiny. Let us not be like the prodigal son. “To obey is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22). Therefore, let us heed the warning of the Word of God, keep His commandments, and have a relationship with the God of second chances. Have a blessed week. Shalom!!!
