📖: 1 John 4:7-9
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 John 4:7).
The Biblical description of love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:4-5).
Love is a profoundly tender, affectionate concern for the well-being of others: the love of one’s neighbor.
Our society puts a different meaning to love, and most human beings’ love is conitional. It’s based on the response of the receiver. We love our friends, BUT not our enemies. The kind of love God wants us to have is inclusive of both; our loved ones and enemies. Luke 6:31 says “do to others as you would have them do to you”
God is Love and a giver of life. “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. As sinners, God chose to love us even as sinners. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and wants us to demonstrate our love for Him by obeying His commandment which says “love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:14).
As Christians, we must realize that hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrong (Proverbs 10:12). For us to love one another, we must be “completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2). Love never fails. Our love for one another must be sincere and we must cling to what is good (Romans 12:8). Whoever does not love, does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:8). We must understand that there is no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fear is not made perfect in love. We love because God first loved us.
Proverbs 17:17 says “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity”. We need to open our hearts and surrender to the Holy Spirit for a change of heart to enable us love one another. Love is the greatest of all (1 Corinthians 13:13) and “may the Lord direct our hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance (2 Thessalonians 3:5). God is Love and giver of life. We are givers to everyone; givers of love and kindness. We are carriers of God’s love. Let us strive and connect to God’s love and love others. Stay connected! Stay focused! Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
