📖: Revelation 3:15-20
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”. (Revelation 3:20).
Jesus Christ the Son of God came to earth “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We must understand sin, to understand why we need a Saviour and why we cannot save ourselves. The origin of sin is found in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). Sin is a transgression of the law (1 John 3:4) and the law is whatever we are commanded to do by God. The reason for sin is found in the desire to exalt oneslf by rejecting God. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Jesus Christ sacrificial death on the cross, has enabled (but not guaranteed) our salvation through the mystery we cannot fully understand. His death provides SALVATION; a way for eternal life. Salvation is the deliverance from the power, pollution and penalty of sin through our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a gift and it cannot be earned (Ephesians 2:8) and comes only by the grace of God. There is nothing we can do on our own to guarantee our salvation. John 3:36 says “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them”.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is His death, and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sin (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). When the gospel is being preached and we hear it, we are not forced to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour; it’s a choice we have to make either to accept Jesus or not into our heart. When we decide to become born again, we will no longer be under the supervision of the law (Galatians 3:25), But now that we have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit we reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life (Romans 6:22). “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
Revelation 3:20 says “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”. When we open our heart and let Jesus in, our spirit is joined to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit help us develop the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23-24), which are attributes of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit create in us a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within us (Psalm 51:10).
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Let us strive and open our heart and let Jesus in, “and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW and stay connected to Jesus Christ who alone has the power and authority to save us for eternal life. Have a blessed day. Shalom!!!
