Confession: Psalm 91, 46, 121:1-8

Memory Verse: Nehemiah 8:10

The Bible tells us in Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” But unfortunately, the enemy who is “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” according to John 10:10. He’ll do all that he can to distract us, to overwhelm us, to frustrate us, and to stir up worry and strife. Often his ways are subtle, other times they’re more clear. It’s what he does best. Stealing. Killing. Destroying. Recognize who is at the root of it all, and push past his lies, step over his traps. The good news is that God wants us to have joy to the fullest. What then is Joy? Joy is a state of great happiness or felicity caused by something good or satisfying. As simple and beautiful as it is, joy cannot be forced. It’s an emtional feeling that is experienced when something good happens to us, and sometimes during difficult situations we can experience joy because of the Lord’s strength in us (Nehemiah 8:10).God wants us to be happy and joyful always. Unfortunately,  the enemy does not want that for us. He hates seeing us happy and wants to destroy our relationship with God so he does everything within it’s power to stir up things in our lives and focus it attack on our joy through our emotions (2 Corinthians 2:11).

Why is it so important for the enemy to steal the Word? This is because the Word of God produces JOY in our hearts. When we read the Word and realize that it’s God’s Will for us to prosper and be in health, that produces JOY on the inside of us. The enemy uses some of its weapons of fear and pride to attack people’s emotions. Fear makes us to become timid and lose the power and sound mind that God bestowed upon us, as it is written in 2 Timothy 1:7; the enemy also effectively uses other devices that against us, such as disappointment, doubt, division, discouragement, and disobedience to God’s Word. The devil himself masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). That is why we have to be on guard, be watchful and pray always. As believers, the Lord gives us the power through His Spirit to live free from the entanglement of sin; gives us the power to live strong; He gives wisdom and discernment to make the right choices. He gives joy deep inside. He offers the assurance to us, that no matter what we face, He is with us. Don’t allow the enemy to steal our joy through fear, worry, discouragement, offense, frustration and bitterness, being misunderstood, feeling anxious, feeling hopeless and helpless, being mistreated, or feeling like a failure. Don’t let the enemy steal your joy today. Don’t allow the enemy in.

We must always remember that “The JOY of the LORD is your STRENGTH (Nehemiah 8:10). Unfortunately, the enemy is after our joy, and likes to use the “little things” to steal our joy, such as: our car won’t start, our hair isn’t looking right, a husband and wife start fussing… The devil knows that if he can get our joy, even over something “little,” he can steal our strength. If we have no strength, we can’t resist the devil. If we can’t resist the devil, he won’t flee. Dealing with the enemies of our joy, we must be alert, watchful, and of sober mind because our adversary, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Defeating the enemies of our joy is not a battle we can fight alone, rather we must put on the full armor of God so that we can stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11); then stand firm and fasten the belt of truth around our waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place according to Ephesians 6:14; then trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. Victory can only come through our faith in Christ Jesus. May His grace, peace, and joy cover our day and beyond, in Jesus’ name. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW! STAY SAFE! STAY HEALTHY! STAY FIRM! STAY STRONG! STAY IN FAITH! STAY ALERT! FOCUSED! STAY CONNECTED! STAY BLESSED!
