Memory Verse: Lamentations 3:57

The Bible tells us from the Old Testament to the New Testament not to be afraid. The Word of God teaches us to “FEAR NOT” about 365 times, so we’re definitely not alone in our battle with fear. Fear is an entirely natural response to dangerous and confusing situations. And because of this natural response, the enemy has capitalized on it and it is one of it’s most popular weapons that he uses against the children of God. While fear is a common human experience, the Word of God promise us in Psalm 23:4 that “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” As human beings, sometimes worry, anxiety, fear of the unknown can overwhelm us with a thick shadow of darkness, controlling our every move and decision. But we must remember that whether it’s fear of death, fear of failure, or fear of man, there are countless passages about overcoming our fears and staying strong in Christ. The Lord wants us to trust in Him, and as we do so, fear will has less influence over our lives. Scripture warns us “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” as it is written in Matthew 10:28. God is more powerful than anything we’re going through in life. He has the power and desire to be with us in the midst of our fears.

Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Fear can be irrational, but sometimes we don’t realize that, because some people’s minds are still processing life, and the enemy knows this very well. Fear and anxiety are two very common emotions that many people experience on a regular basis. “Fear not…” appears so frequently in the Bible. Fear does, after all, have a way of creeping into our minds about problems or circumstances beyond our control. What Does the Bible Say About Fear? The Lord God commands us to “FEAR NOT.” It is no wonder that Isaiah 41:10 says “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Psalms 56:3-4 says “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me.” And Isaiah 41:13 says “For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

As believers, the Lord is our light and our salvation— whom shall we fear? The Lord is the stronghold of ou life—of whom shall we be afraid, (Psalm 27:1). “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble….” Psalm 46:1-3. Throughout the gospels and acts, we read how the disciples were transformed from fear-filled followers of Jesus to intrepid proclaimers of the good news. Most of these frightened men who abandoned Jesus during His arrest went on to preach the gospel-even though it would eventually cost them their lives. When we go through situations in our lives, we might sometimes still feel afraid, but we can believe that God is with us. We may not be in control, but we can trust the One who is. We may not know the future, but we can know the God who does, because John 14:27 says “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” God is not a figure to fear. He is a pillar of faith to lean on when we find ourselves overcome with emotion. If we reach out to God, He will answer with love and comfort so that our fear will appear small in comparison to His warmth. Our faith in God will strengthen us during the circumstances threatening our existence. Remembering this will enable to us to take the next step of faithfulness in our lives. How? Because God is with us, (Romans 8:31) For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW! STAY HEALTHY! STAY SAFE! STAY POSITIVE! STAY FIRM! STAY CONNECTED! STAY FOCUSED! STAY POSITIVE! STAY IN FAITH! STAY BLESSED!
